I am a Christian and a Conservative. The Holy Bible is what I believe and where I derive my strength of purpose and values. Jesus Christ is my savior and the final judge on what I have done with my life. I do not give a wit for the good opinion of others if it means I must surrender my principles and values to gain their favor. Therefore, the flag stays up until I decide it comes down.

The Obama administration represents an ideology that is in total opposition to my values and what our founding fathers believed. I’ll list a few topics so you’ll understand my objections.

Abortion

Except in the case of rape, incest or a mother’s life, the termination of human life within the womb for any other cause is nothing less than murder. Even in the case of rape or incest I would recommend that the mother consider adoption. Abortion is not about a woman’s right to choose. It’s about her convenience and is an abrogation of her responsibilities. She takes the easy path or so she thinks but many women have had traumatic reactions to their ill-fated decision. Those women have my prayers and support but it’s too late for the baby. I would make comments about the fathers of these aborted babies but today’s laws exclude men (and parents) from any legal rights regarding the fate of the unborn. 
 
President Obama has written an Executive Order that will give American tax dollars to a foreign country’s equivalent of our Planned Parenthood organization. These entities will use the money to help fund their abortions. It’s distressing enough that my tax dollars are used for American abortions but now I am forced to participate in global infanticide. 

While Obama was a member of the Illinois state legislature he was the only one that voted against legislation that would provide medical care to a baby of a failed abortion i.e., one that survived the abortion. In one failed abortion attempt in Illinois a baby was placed in a linen closet to die but a compassionate nurse intervened and held the baby in her arms until the child died – that’s all she could do. Is this change we can believe in?

Illegal Immigration

Guard our borders, build the damn fence, punish employers who hire illegals and deport all illegals (including their children born here or brought into this country). No amnesty. Sound too harsh. We have immigration laws for a reason. These laws are meant to protect American citizens, our culture, our economy and way of life. If people immigrate legally to the US then they can avoid the consequences of breaking our laws.

Many of these illegal immigrants are here solely for the economic opportunities – not because they love our country. I want people whose allegiance is to America first and seek to assimilate into the American culture.

Government publications should be English only. Schools should provide English only instruction. This is America and English is the national language – learn it.    

Tax Policy

I favor a flat tax – the same rate for everyone. Those individuals below a certain wage level would pay zero taxes. Our tax policy as defined by President Obama will increase the tax burden on those that are already over-taxed. He will use some of that money to write “stimulus checks” to those who pay no taxes. I call that welfare. How does this stimulate anything?

People who are too lazy to work and advance their skills or lack ambition do not deserve my tax dollars yet Obama wants to reward this behavior and punish my achievement. I’m all for helping deserving individuals who require assistance but this should be viewed by them as a temporary situation – not an entitlement. Becoming a long-term welfare recipient should not be considered as a career opportunity but that’s what Obama’s tax policy will incentivize.

In Obama's current stimulus package there is $400 million for global climate change research, $50 million for the Arts, hundred's of millions of dollars for corrupt 'neighborhood' organizations such as ACORN and $500 to $1,000 checks to illegal aliens. The list goes on and on. This will only stimulate big government and the national debt. Obama says we must pass this legislation quickly due to the economic crisis yet much of the proposed spending is directed towards non job producing entities. Obama is using this crisis to advance his socialist agenda which will only worsen the situation. 

To stimulate the economy the tax rate should be reduced on business (the second highest in the developed world) and on the American taxpayers. Leave the recovery of the economy in the capable hands of the American people and not in the grasping, greedy and incompetent hands of government.

Whether it's the war on terror, the economy or the environment, the more gloom and doom the Democrats can gin up the better their chances are for enacting their socialist agenda and increasing the power of the federal government over the American people.

The Obama presidency will be like a very long running Friday the 13th movie. His 'policy ax' will chop up captilalism and personal freedoms until we wished Jason would pay us a visit.
 
Gay Marriage

This should not be legalized. Marriage between a man and a woman is the foundation of the American culture. Are you born a homosexual or is it a choice one makes? I don’t know. I will leave that to God to judge. I know this – it is not God’s plan that people of the same gender have sexual relations with each other and that they marry. Gay marriage demeans the institution of marriage and contributes to the moral decay of our society.

Global Warming  

I do not accept the premise that there is man-made global warming underway. There is no scientific consensus among climatologists. The global warming proponent’s goal is to expand the size of government (more taxes) and increase control over our daily lives. They want to tell us how we should live our lives while they themselves will no doubt have exemptions.

In 1979 Time and Newsweek had articles on the coming ice age. The arctic ice shelf was expanding. Thirty years later those same arctic ice shelves have regained their previous size yet we are told its global warming that is occurring. 

How much faith do we have in long-range (7 day) weather forecasts? Meteorologists utilize several weather predicting computer models yet they are unable to accurately predict local weather events one week out let alone global weather 20 to 40 years into the future. How then can we believe what these so-called scientists tell us? These questionable scientists are using predictive data models that are short on data and long on assumptions. They can produce whatever results they want. This is politics – not science. It’s all a hoax.

In the 2008 movie ‘The Happening’ thousands of people were committing suicide for no apparent reason. As it turns out the plant life was producing airborne toxins that induced the worldwide suicides. Why? The plants were defending themselves against the evil Homo sapiens who were causing global warming. What a joke of a storyline that was.

The Obama administration and Democrat controlled Congress will not permit the expansion of drilling in the known oil reserves of the United States – onshore or offshore. We are prevented from building more oil refineries, cannot construct additional nuclear facilities or coal-fired plants. The Democrats and their environmentalist co-conspirators have hamstrung our economy, endangered our national security and placed us at the mercy of anti-American foreign oil suppliers.
 
There is a call by Democrats for us to use alternative sources of energy. Great. Develop affordable and efficient technology to deliver the alternative energy sources and I’ll be the first to make the switch. In the meantime, we need to expand the supply of our proven and abundant energy resources. This can all be accomplished through  environmentally sound processes. 
  
National Security

Senate Majority leader Reid and his counterpart Pelosi in the House have actively sought the defeat of our troops in Iraq. They have stated the war is lost, the ‘surge’ won’t work and demanded timelines for troop withdrawal else they would not provide funding for the war in Iraq. They said they supported our troops but not the mission.

Their actions gave aid and comfort to our enemies. America’s defeat was their goal leading up to the 2008 election. They were only interested in appealing to their voter base and getting themselves reelected. Case in point: Congressman John Murtha of Pennsylvania asserted that our brave soldiers committed war crimes in the town of Haditha, Iraq. These charges were unfounded and ultimately disproven but Congressman Murtha was all too eager to slander our military rather than waiting for the facts. Murtha never apologized for his disgraceful behavior. With Democrat politicians America bashing (especially of our military) is sadly a selling point to their voter base.

Following Democrat ‘logic’ I can say that I support President Obama but not his policies. However, that is a stupidly contradictory statement. The Democrats cannot say they support our troops on the one hand while with the other they undermine their efforts to conduct the war. Likewise, I cannot say I support Obama and at the same time oppose his policies.

I do not support President Obama because I cannot support ANY of his policies as described in the campaign nor do I support what I see unfolding in the early days of his administration. For the sake of America he must fail.

His Executive Order to close Gitmo within one year and to use the Army’s field guide for terrorist interrogations will weaken our ability to fight the war on terror. The Democrats believe that these terrorists should be given some of the same constitutional rights that Americans have in the courtroom. Additionally, Obama has suspended the military trials scheduled for the Gitmo detainees, including the remaining 9/11 terrorists.

Obama wants to give constitutional rights to foreign terrorists who fly planes into buildings and cuts off the heads of their unfortunate captives.

Health Care

Obama is trying to ram down our throats the creation of a government run health care system. Can we not learn from others (Canada and Europe) that government run health care systems are incapable of providing timely, high quality and cost effective services? When there is no competition in the market place and a seemingly unending supply of money coming from the American taxpayer (or so the Democrat Congress thinks) then there is no incentive for a government run organization to strive for excellence. It will never go out of business due to its own ineptitude because Congress is all too willing to bail out failed business models as we have seen in recent months in the private sector.

What about the uninsured? Polices favorable to business and consumers (low taxes, sensible regulation, tort reform, secure borders, full utilization of proven energy sources) will put more Americans to work thus improving their ability to obtain health care on their own. Those still unable to secure their own medical insurance can turn to government for financial assistance.

The inaptly named stimulus bill contains health care provisions that are tantamount to nationalizing our health care delivery systems. In the bill there is a new bureaucracy established called, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology.

Betsy McCaughey of Bloomberg.com has written (dated February 9th) a terrifying synopsis of what this health care provision will do to us if enacted.

Ms. McCaughey says this new bureaucracy “will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and ‘guide’ your doctor’s decisions.”

Since when has the government ever done anything with effectiveness? Now they want to control the medical treatments we receive… This oversight will literally kill us.

The provisions in the bill are based on what former Senator Tom Daschle prescribed in his 2008 book, “Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis.” Daschle says that doctors have to give up autonomy and “learn to operate less like solo practitioners.”

The doctor/patient relationship will be utterly destroyed since the doctor will be forced (under threat of penalties if they don’t) to consult with the government to gain approval of your treatment plan.

Ms. McCaughey says the bill will use a cost effectiveness standard to ascertain the cost/benefit of the treatment based on the number of years the patient is likely to benefit versus the cost of the treatment.

Translation: If you are a senior and the treatment is expensive (especially experimental treatments) you may not be approved for the treatment. Tom Daschle says seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them.

Gosh Tom, thanks for keeping your eye on the budget. You are only trying to conserve our limited funds for the more cost effective (younger) segment of our population. This is the first time I’ve ever heard a Democrat demonstrate any concern for staying within budget. The only problem is that this could literally kill you or someone you love.

I can just visualize a government bureaucrat wearing his ‘green shade’ and telling my mother’s doctor that she cannot have the life-prolonging treatment her doctor recommends because it’s not cost effective.

I have a suggestion for Tom and his fellow Democrats. Take the millions of dollars in taxes that we pay for abortions and redirect it towards funding experimental treatments. Save lives rather than taking them.

As it stands now the Democrats are only killing the young. If their new health care legislation is passed the elderly can be added to the list.

True to liberal form members of Congress will not be subjected to this health care ‘reform’ for they will continue under their current health plan. 

Education

The Democrats want to throw more money at this to address the problem of ill-equipped children ‘graduating’ from our public school systems. Lack of money is not the problem – what they are teaching and how they are teaching it is the issue. School is not meant for the indoctrination of children into the ideology of the Democrat party but that’s what’s occurring. Thus, children are taught nonsense subjects or are exposed to subjects that are grossly misrepresented by the teachers and the textbooks they use.

Teachers should be evaluated based on the performance of their students and their ability to teach them. Instead, teacher unions shield them from such evaluations – at least those that could lead to their firing. They are protected from the consequences of their incompetence. Obviously, not all teachers are incompetent but all need to undergo the scrutiny of an annual evaluation so that teachers can be rewarded (merit based pay) according to their performance. 

Fairness Doctrine

President Obama and his Democrat controlled Congress will push for passage of legislation that will result in the shut down of conservative talk radio programs. That is censorship. The legislation is written in a manner that does not prohibit conservative talk radio programs but will make it so difficult for radio stations to conduct their business that they will be forced to drop these formats. This legislation does not apply to newspapers, magazines or network/cable news venues because those media formats are solidly in the Democrat camp.

Talk radio is where the conservative message is given full voice. Programs such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham to name a few represent the values and views of millions of Americans. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has launched an online petition asking people to sign it to express their outrage with Rush for saying about Obama,  "I hope he fails". Obama has told congressional Republicans to stop listening to Rush if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration.

Rush wants Obama to fail (as I do) because we don't agree with his policies. Why would anyone wish success for a president whose policies are believed to be damaging to America?

This online petition is one step along the path to censorship. The Obama administration is unable to handle any criticism. The new president is using Stalinist techniques to quell the opposition voice.
 
Liberal politicians are like vampires. They suck the life-blood out of ‘selected’ American citizens and react to truth and facts as though they were exposed to the sun. Conservative talk radio is a ‘stake in the heart’ to liberals.
